The Arturia BeatStep USB/MIDI/CV Controller and Sequencer is a versatile piece of equipment that can be used for both photo editing and music production. It has a MIDI out, CV/gate, pitch bend, and mod wheels. The device has a lot of power in terms of MIDI mapping and the ability to trigger hardware synths, drum machines, samplers, and other musical instruments. However, it can be clunky to program the notes and CCs, and the step sequencer has major flaws when trying to sync to a DAW resulting in non-sync. The build quality is great, and the pads have a natural, sensitive feel. The biggest draw-backs are the clunky programming process, and the pads lacking uniform sensitivity. Overall, it is an excellent value for the money spent.
